A New Tree On Risbridge Meadow.

Title Yesterday a group of children from Kedington Primary School Gathered in the Risbridge Meadow Nature Reserve. Their purposes to plant a willow given as a gift during last year's exchange visit by children of Ecole St-Exupery.

With the assistance of a member of the St Edmundsbury Park Ranger Service the children planted tree in a spot by the river where they hope it will grow not only to commemorate a visit but also to add to the environment of the reserve by providing a habitat for many small invertebrates which will in turn attract and feed birds such as finches and tits.

Then the children take turns.

Then the tree has to be prepared.

The Ranger says that the roots are all bunched up and need to be teased out.

The willow is planted and the children help to bury the roots

Finaly the children Bang in a stake to help hold up the tree using a special tool.

And the willow tree is planted. The green plastic is to protect it from Muntjac Dear who often come to the reserve and sometimes eat young trees.
