With the assistance of a member of the St Edmundsbury Park Ranger Service the children planted tree in a spot by the river where they hope it will grow not only to commemorate a visit but also to add to the environment of the reserve by providing a habitat for many small invertebrates which will in turn attract and feed birds such as finches and tits.

The children arrive...	Collect tools...
	And find their spot.
The ranger explains the plan
The ranger starts the digging...	Then the children take turns.
Then the tree has to be prepared.	The Ranger says that the roots are all bunched up and need to be teased out.
The children help tease the roots.	The willow is planted and the children help to bury the roots
Finaly the children Bang in a stake to help hold up the tree using a special tool.	And the willow tree is planted. The green plastic is to protect it from Muntjac Dear who often come to the reserve and sometimes eat young trees.
